Hey there! My name is Sam. I'm a freshman at the University of Maryland (go terps!) and I love taking photos no matter the subject. I particularly enjoy sports, portraits, events, and photojournalism.
I began my photography career by taking family photos. My first session was in Fall of 2019 and I have had many more since then. My favorite part of family photo sessions is getting to know the families and capturing their laughter.
I graduated from Ridgewood High School last June. My four years at RHS were full of photography. I interned for GroupSpot as a sports photographer in my freshman year and worked for NJ Sports Media my sophomore and junior years. I also photographed band concerts, RHS New Players' theater productions, and other happenings at RHS. Photography was how I connected with & gave back to my community at the high school.
Last summer, I worked as a camp photographer at Deerkill Day Camp! I photographed children ages 7-15 at their daily camp activities. This job taught me a lot about relationship building with my subjects and how getting to know them can truly improve the quality of my photos. I look forward to returning this upcoming summer!
Currently, I am a staff photographer at The Diamondback, UMD's online student-run publication. My role consists of sports and news photography several times per week.
Thank you so much for viewing my portfolio and I look forward to hearing from you!
